Gathering Garden

I guess I wasn't done appliqueing!
I am making good progress on Kim Diehl's
'Gathering Garden'
from the book, Simple Charm.
It is the same book that contains the pattern for 'Short and Sweet,'
the quilt in my header photo.
I hope when I place the bright berries and add the colorful log cabin border,
it will perk it up a tad.  Or maybe I need to find a better blue for the center!

And here are my fabric selections for Lori's quiltalong
...over at her blog,
She will share the instructions to reproduce this sweet little antique doll quilt.
Head on over to her blog and check it out.
I think instructions begin tomorrow.

Now back to stitching and cheering my 49er's to victory.

  2. Your applique is looking great - if you want a brighter blue in the center, I would just applique a second shape (a circle perhaps) on top of what you have already done. The layers will look great!

I have finished with my version of Lori's vintage quilt - stitching the binding down tonight. Your fabric choices look great!

  4. I like the piece you are working on. I think the colors are good. I think I have the book you are working from. I need to be sure because it is one I would like to own if it isn't already on the shelf with the other Kim D. books.

  5. Really like your appliqué piece - I agree with others - appliqué another accent piece onto the middle. It's a wonderful block!
Really like your selection for Lori's next QAL - this will be a first for me - have pieces pulled this afternoon but nothing written in stone yet. I am hurting on little light prints - maybe a trip to the LQS/? Aw shucks....

  12. I have faith that you will find the right combination of fabrics to finish your Kim Diehl project. Lori's quilt along is very appealing. It's only little, shouldn't take too long?
I think I heard that the 49er's won. Is it the Superbowl next?
