Seriously!!...

I am in tears.
Thought I was done with the background for my Primitive Pumpkins, designed by Rita Briner, quilt top until I started to measure for the final border.
Yikes, why is it an 'unsquare'....inside joke.
Then I noticed the upper right corner.
I am short one row of HST units.
I redrafted the quilt to make it smaller, so I wasn't following her exact instructions.
Lesson to be learned!
All the fabrics have been re-stashed and I was so done with the inner portion.
Hopefully, this post will motivate me to get the seam ripper out so this doesn't get stuffed in the back of the closet.
I am struggling to find both time and enthusiasm for my quilting these days, and this certainly didn't help!

  1. I'm crying with you. It's amazing what you see in a photo that's not as obvious looking right at the quilt. A great tool. Drat, it is one step back and then on you go again. Looking forward to seeing this beauty. Love the variety of oranges.

  2. :-( awww, so sorry, Cheryl.

Agree with Jo.. amazing what we see through the camera lens we don't catch with the eye. What's worse is when you photograph swap blocks, mail them off, only to THEN see that a HST was turned the wrong way. UGH!

We will be your cheerleaders... You can do it!
    rip-it, rip-it, rip-it!
Actually, I find un-sewing to be not so awful. But then, that's me. You can send it to me. ;-)

  3. Sorry to hear you have some ripping to do! If it's any consolation - this quilt is looking really beautiful! LOVE your fabric choices for this one.

  4. Oh no! I possibly wouldn't rip...Make it uniquely yours and do the applique as it is. If you don't tell, who's really gonna know? I've spent many hours ripping in years pass and just don't want to anymore. There's too many quilts out there to make to turn it into work that I don't enjoy. Good luck and have fun with it.

  5. I wouldn't change it as long as the appliqués will still fit. It looks very "Escher" and with the appliqués on top I bet it will still be terrific!

  8. I agree with Barbara B. If everything will fit, I wouldn't change it. Sorry you've been lacking enthusiasm. Sometimes we just need a break. Take care.

  9. I actually kind of like the asymmetrical look to your background! I'd use it anyway and smile every time I see it.:)

  11. I agree with Barbara above-if the appliques will fit leave it. I'd never have noticed if you didn't tell and with appliques added it would be even more difficult to.

  13. We've all been there before, Cheryl. You're not alone. I must agree with the others to leave it as it is if the appliques fit. It's really a striking piece in those colors!

  15. I didn't notice Cheryl. It is in the "prim" style isn't it?
Don't worry too much - it's quite a stunning piece regardless. Don't you have a gorgeous grand daughter to distract you?

  16. Oh dear!! Isn't it always the way, when you redraft something, you miss something too LOL!!!, I've done that in the past as well, best to redress the situation if you really can't live with it the way it is sooner rather than later LOL! Otherwise your drive to get it right will leave and never return!!!! Keep breathing and take your time........
