I guess I wasn't done appliqueing!
I am making good progress on Kim Diehl's
'Gathering Garden'
from the book, Simple Charm.
It is the same book that contains the pattern for 'Short and Sweet,'
the quilt in my header photo.
I hope when I place the bright berries and add the colorful log cabin border,
it will perk it up a tad. Or maybe I need to find a better blue for the center!
And here are my fabric selections for Lori's quiltalong
...over at her blog,
She will share the instructions to reproduce this sweet little antique doll quilt.
Head on over to her blog and check it out.
I think instructions begin tomorrow.
Now back to stitching and cheering my 49er's to victory.
Both your garden block and the doll quilt is lovely... but I just LoVe the quilt in your header! It's fantastic! :)
ReplyDeleteYour applique is looking great - if you want a brighter blue in the center, I would just applique a second shape (a circle perhaps) on top of what you have already done. The layers will look great!
ReplyDeleteI have finished with my version of Lori's vintage quilt - stitching the binding down tonight. Your fabric choices look great!
Your applique blocks looks wonderful, I admire anyone who takes this type of project on, you're going to end up with a stunning piece of work Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteI have decided to follow Lori with this cute little doll quilt as well, will be sorting out my fabrics today!!!!
I like the piece you are working on. I think the colors are good. I think I have the book you are working from. I need to be sure because it is one I would like to own if it isn't already on the shelf with the other Kim D. books.
ReplyDeleteReally like your appliqué piece - I agree with others - appliqué another accent piece onto the middle. It's a wonderful block!
ReplyDeleteReally like your selection for Lori's next QAL - this will be a first for me - have pieces pulled this afternoon but nothing written in stone yet. I am hurting on little light prints - maybe a trip to the LQS/? Aw shucks....
Great fabrics for Lori's block! Ahhh, your 49er's beat my Packers... wasn't as good of a game as today's against the Falcons!!!
ReplyDeleteYour "Gathering Garden " block is looking really pretty! Love your fabrics you pulled for the little quilt.
ReplyDeleteWe are celebrating the 49ers too!!
ReplyDeleteYour applique block is a beauty! Love the fabric you have pulled for the quiltalong.
your really tempting me to get out kims books and pick a project, love your fabric choices on the applique so far.
ReplyDeleteLoris reproduction of this antique quilt is just fun!
I might just have to make it too!
Kathie
I am crazy about the quilt on your header - it's so, so pretty.
ReplyDeleteAnd, your new project is wonderful, as well.
Have a great day.
Your applique is wonderful !
ReplyDeleteWAY TO GO 49 ERS !!!!!!!!!!
I have faith that you will find the right combination of fabrics to finish your Kim Diehl project. Lori's quilt along is very appealing. It's only little, shouldn't take too long?
ReplyDeleteI think I heard that the 49er's won. Is it the Superbowl next?
Hi Cheryl,
ReplyDeleteBoth your garden quilt and doll quilt are delightful as all your projects are! You always do a great job inspireing us.
Great game to victory is right. :)
